Very pleased with my new 55mm lens. Capturing less details, but more fits in. This is winter sun in this latitude. It has its harshness, nonetheless this is exactly what punctuates everything with high contrast.
The rain was long gone but the earth finds it difficult to drink it all just yet. Some of this humidity will have to be shared by evaporation. Like many country landscapes anywhere this nature appearing from the path is thin. The trees might be tall but they hide large fields which are the greater reality of the countryside. In those areas where the field meets the public path, thanks to low maintenence, and municipal priorities we get some overgrowth, and with it what once was the rule.
I haven't yet found a way to say this in pictures, to speak about the place where human and nature meet, how they regard each other, how they disregard each other. Perhaps I just need to continue taking photos and something will arise, or perhaps what I find hard to communicate is actually coming through.
Abejaruco is a name given to a hill, the Spanish name for Bee-eater, a colourful social bird. They are around from early spring and you hear them overhead. The last three photos in the gallery above were taken earlier with the 80mm lens, I thought they fitted here, and I also wanted those for comparison.
